Downtide, formerly known as Doltaghey House and Ficanoss, are a queer trans plural otherkin who in 2000 created the rainbow seven-pointed Elven Star that became an otherkin symbol (Various, 2001 fall, pg. 9; Arethinn n.d.). System members included Arhuaine, Lewis, Karl, Maitimo, and Casteglan/Casteylan. They created comics about the latter, which ran in Kinships magazine.

Otherkin Awakening and Cultural Participation
Arhuaine "awoke" to elven nature while in college in 1985, after playing D&D as an elf and the GM disclosing their own elven nature. A small group of the players sharing an elven identity grew close-knit after that, one of whom Arhuaine married (2001, July 9).
Casteylan joined the system in 1997, self identifying as a walk-in who arrived "because of a magical ritual done by Arhuaine that didn't quite go to plan. At the point of my 'death', instead of reincarnating in the usual way, I was drawn here. I did not adjust well to the transition and it took nearly 12 months before I was stable enough to take Front or communicate with others" (Doltaghey House, n.d. A).
Under the pen name Ficanoss, the system created comics about Casteylan for Kinships Magaine from Issue #0-5, and in 2000 they created the seven-pointed Elven Star, which became a general otherkin symbol (Various, 2001 fall, pg. 9; Arethinn n.d.).
Plurality
In 2002, Downtide blogs, "we have now come 'out of the closet' with regards to being Multiple, we have totally re-written our Intro page and we are in the process of writing some Multiplicity-related guide entries" (2002, September 22). According to Crisses, Downtide "had the positivelyplural.myforums.net forum (announced July 9, 2003) then registered the domain PositivelyPlural.org and announced the registration to us on April 7, 2004" (n.d.)
Downtide still periodically blog on plural matters, and seem to take an umbrella approach to it. "I think there are definitely some similarities between tulpamancy and other types of plurality. And I don't necessarily think that the entities themselves are any different from one another. My system over the years has comprised of tulpas, soulbonds, walk-ins and DID alters, and ultimately they all feel the same. Only the mechanism of their creation/arrival is different" (2018, February 4).
